Why small time followers are awesome

Some people on twitter are only focused on the big fish. People with tons of followers. I say to those people, slow your roll. Here are some fun facts that might make you think twice about ignoring the little guy.

    • People that have fewer followers often, themselves, follow fewer people.
    • They are more likely to see everything you tweet.
    • They get more value from your engagement with them.
    • They are more likely to retweet, and click links you send out.
    • They could be newer to Twitter and your impact on them can have a lasting impression.

So please keep in mind that every follower is valuable, no matter how big or how small they are.

Great post and nice reminder that sometimes great things come in small packages!

Agreed, Wes. On top of all this, if you're tweeting to build your network or your business, you never know when a "small-timer" on Twitter will turn out to be big-time for your professional network. For example, maybe they just dabble in Twitter, but control a large budget. Food for thought.

So very true. Social Media has nothing to do with the number of "friends" or "followers" everyone in your network should be of equal value, treat them as important and Social Media will be a much more rewarding experience for you.

Yeah, I totally agree. Follower counts are such BS to me regardless.
